The

took
place on
17-19
October

with 10
participants
from
different
Egyptian
universities.
As
writing
for
academic
journals
is
highly
competitive
and
equally
central
to
universities
around
the
world,
several
universities
across
the Arab
world
are
inciting
their
staff to
publish
in
highly-regarded
journal.
The aim
of this
workshop
was to
make a
small
contribution
to the
development
of
scholarship
in the
Arab
world by
providing
some
guidance
and
support
to
early-career
researchers
in
publishing
their
research.
The
workshop
was
designed
to
support
participants
in
writing
for
academic
publications,
with a
special
focus on
journal
articles.
Aims and
Objectives:
The main
objectives
of the
workshop
were to
introduce
participants

academic
writing

(research

literature
review,
methodology,
etc.).

Writing
abstracts,
introductions,
conclusions.
-
Exploring
outlets
for
publication
and
selection
of an
appropriate
outlet
for
their
work.
-
Peer-review
process,
cover
letters,
responding
to
reviewers’
feedback,
and
dealing
with
rejections.
The
workshop
also
included
review
and
feedback
sessions,
where
participants
received
feedback
on their
manuscripts
in order
to
produce
a final
draft of
a piece
suitable
for
publication.
In a 3
day-program,
the
workshop
combined
training
sessions
and
tutorials
on the
several
processes
of
publishing
in
high-impact
academic
journals.
On the
first
day, the
first
two
sessions
examined
the
writing
stage
process.
Dr.
Marcelo
Olarreaga
explored
the main
components
of an
article
(research
question,
literature
review,
and
methodology).
The
sessions
also
focused
on the
clarity
of
presentation
and
structure.
Following
the
training
sessions,
participants
had the
opportunity
to
present
their
own
research
and
receive
feedback
on their
manuscripts.
The
second
day of
the
workshop
examined
the
publication
process.
In the
first
two
sessions,

discussing
and
reviewing
participants’
manuscripts.
Participants
